A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room was written as a reflection on the changes of the American way of life throughout the decade. However, it resonates with present-day European culture. As the Western World climbs its way out of the Great Recession, we see both a more conservative defining of cultural identity and, on the other hand, a need for redefining progress – or a challenging of our limitations to such progress. We are thus asked to constantly identify and redefine who we are in the context of the new world order, while at the same time defend and reclaim the very foundations of our society.

I would like to bid you welcome to the dining room. A dining room is a place where old friends gather, but also a place to make new friendships stronger; a place to hold fast to tradition, but also a place to learn about the the changing times; a place to share, to love and to toast to good company.

“This HIT production of ‘Old Times’ must rank as one of the sexiest ever adaptations of renowned playwright Harold Pinter’s work….Its unlimited angles gave the audience the sense they were really look into someone’s living room as a voyeur…HIT has once again succeeded in masterfully presenting an absorbing re-interpretation of Pinter’s work.”

“Det engelske sprog er som skabt til Pinters dramatik. Det er en fornøjelse at høre det spillet på engelsk…. Gå på opdagelse i det pinterske univers, og start for eksempel med ”Old Times” i Krudttønden. Det er en stor, livgivende og intens dødelig oplevelse.”
